Filipino is formally the national language of the Philippines. Informally Tagalog, one of the largest linguistic groups in the country, is used as the basis for the national language. This is why most consider Filipino and Tagalog synonymous. Along with Tagalog, English also serves as the other official language in the Philippines.

So let's explore the 10 filipino words you've never heard before. These will be explained each with their meanings and also on how to pronounce and use this words in sentence.

                                                                                              

1. Anluwage - in english language this means Carpenter. This is a worker who builds or repairs wooden structures or their structural parts.

Example sentence: Ang Anluwage ay nagpuputol ng kahoy.






                                                                                            

2. Kawingan -  in english language this means Hyperlink. This is a highlighted word or picture in a document or Web page that you can click on with a computer mouse to go to another place in the same or a different document or Web page.

Example sentence: Si carl ay gumagamit ng Kawingan upang mabilis makahanap ng mga websites.




                                                                                               

3. Batlag - in english language this means Automobile or Car. This is a wheeled, self-powered motor vehicle used for transportation and a product of the automotive industry.

Example sentence: Si Francis ay gumamit ng Batlag papunta sa kanyang paaralan.




                                                                                               

4. Himaton - in english language this means Clue. It is a piece of evidence that leads one toward the solution of a problem.

Example sentence: Bigyan mo naman ako ng Himaton, di ko mahulaan ang bugtong mo.




                                                                                               

5. Asoge - in english language this means Mercury. This is a chemical element with symbol Hg and atomic number 80.

Example senence:  Nakakamatay at delikado ito sa katawan ang Asoge na nasa loob ng thermometer.





                                                                                               

6. Duyog - in english language this means Eclipse. An eclipse occurs when one heavenly body such as a moon or planet moves into the shadow of another heavenly body.

Example sentence: An isang Duyog ay makikita sa araw.






                                                                                               

7. Ilaya - in english language this means Farm. A farm is an area of land that is devoted primarily to agricultural processes with the primary objective of producing food and other crops; it is the basic facility in food production.

Example Sentence: Papunta ako sa Ilaya bukas. 



                                                                                               

8. Payneta - in english language this means Comb. A comb is A strip of plastic, metal, or wood with a row of narrow teeth, used for untangling or arranging the hair.

Example sentence: Ang Payneta ni Mariella ay palaging malinis.





                                                                                               

9. Marahuyo - in english language this means Magical or Extraordinary. It is defined as beautiful or delightful in such a way as to seem removed from everyday life.

Example sentence: Napanood mo na ba ang palabas na kung saan ang mga karakter ay naglalakbay sa isang Marahuyong gubat?



                                                                                               

10. Salimbatok - in english language this means Uneven. This means it is not equally balanced; not symmetrical or parallel.

Example sentence: May mga gusaling Salimbatok ang pagkakagawa ngunit matayog.
